We explain how and why. Joseph H. Pilates conceived his method, also called Contrology, as a complete programme of specific exercises that through concentration, precision, repetition and breathing, among other principles, achieves the conscious control of all the movements of the body. By gaining through its practice greater body awareness and postural control we can better understand the body and how it works and improve our health and quality of life. The benefits of the original Pilates method for the body and health are innumerable, some of the most notable are:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Increases body awareness, helps to understand limitations and learn to listen to the body's signals (pain, discomfort, knowing when to stop an activity, etc.).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It prepares the body to be able to respond to different daily stimuli such as: sitting at the computer, lifting weights, walking, etc. It provides the necessary tools to be able to move without fear in any circumstance.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Improves posture and muscular resistance, correcting postural defects and unnecessary movements.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It helps to slim the figure and in combination with aerobic sport and diet regulates weight control and weight loss.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strengthens the bones and muscles of the back, <a href=\"https:\/\/elitepilates.net\/en\/blog\/pilates-abdomen\/\">abdomen<\/a> and pelvis, relieving muscular pain and being one of the recovery practices par excellence in spinal pathologies such as: scoliosis, arthrosis, osteoporosis, hernias, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides mobility, flexibility, coordination and reflexes. Promotes muscle elasticity and elongation, while recovering lost mobility.<\/span><b>.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It boosts the blood and respiratory system, allowing the diaphragm and lungs to be used to their full potential, oxygenating the whole body.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It strengthens the pelvic floor (the muscles that support the uterus), promoting healthy childbirth and a quick recovery after childbirth.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It promotes mind-body connection and balance, bringing vitality and mental strength.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It promotes self-esteem and personal growth.
