Read on to find out more about the founder and director of Elite Pilates.
1. When and how did you decide to become a Pilates teacher?.
“I started in 2003, when I received a small training to start giving sessions in a centre. From that moment on, and despite not knowing it in depth at the time, I realised that it was something completely different and that it achieved incredible results when it came to improving the quality of movement, posture or rehabilitating injuries”.
2. How has Pilates transformed your body?.
“It has helped me to improve certain physical aspects in terms of flexibility and strength, but it has also made me understand my body better and become fully aware of its movement when carrying out any day-to-day task and when practising other sports. Thanks to Pilates I now enjoy complete well-being, even though my work is physically demanding.
3. Why do you consider Pilates a fundamental method?.
“In addition to working in a global way, it strengthens the body in the correct way, working on the flexibility of the muscles, avoiding pressure on the joints and seeking at all times a proper alignment and posture. Another important aspect is that it initially acts on the deep musculature of the body to improve the stability of our structure and from there it helps to develop the more powerful musculature in a balanced way”.
4 How would you encourage someone to try it?.
“Explaining that it is only exercise, it is a method that helps to improve our physical and mental health. The awareness it provides about the body is key to preventing injuries, improving ailments and learning to maintain the correct posture in our daily lives.
5. What 3 tips would you give to a person who is just starting Pilates?.
«First of all, you have to be patient. The Pilates method is fantastic and is aimed at everyone. But it is an exercise that has nothing to do with other physical disciplines and requires perseverance in order to achieve spectacular results. On the other hand, from the beginning of the session you must try to clear your mind and focus as much as possible on the exercise. In class, great concentration is necessary, which will also help us to escape and release stress. Another key element is discipline. This is a method that helps you to achieve great changes in your body, but you have to be constant to progress correctly and move to a higher level in a safe way.
