The creator of the method, Joseph Hubertus Pilates, designed numerous special apparatus - Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda, small and large barrel, spine corrector, electric chair, guillotine, pedi-pole, foot corrector...) in order to work during all his sessions with most of them, as they all facilitated the performance of the exercises and also served to intensify the work on specific areas of the body - buttocks, back, abdominals, etc -. The aim was to work all parts of the body equally, from head to toe.
Therefore, in a real session of the original method, it is necessary and essential to use the different apparatus available for this discipline, as well as to practice on the mat.
If you practice Pilates, always make sure that the studio you go to is properly equipped with the original Pilates equipment and has well-trained professionals, as your safety and health depend on these two aspects.
Among the benefits of the use of the device are the following.
1.- Facilitates movement. The design of the equipment guides the execution of the exercises in a precise manner, assisting the movement and allowing to focus on the muscles and joints, avoiding putting excessive pressure on them.
2.- Protects the spine and prevents injuries. Postural correction when executing the movements and performing the exercises on their stable bases (Reformer or Cadillac) avoids erroneous movements that could lead to injuries.
3. Regulates the intensity. Pilates apparatuses have a system of resistances or springs that allow a more specific workout and progress over time.
4. It promotes and facilitates abdominal work. And the positioning of the hip and pelvis. They correct body misalignments by taking pressure off the joints.
5. Increases physical endurance. It also improves concentration and accuracy, reduces stress and promotes relaxation, during and after the session.
