Perhaps, for some people, being a Pilates instructor is nothing more than a temporary job, to earn money for a longer or shorter period of time. You do a quick course and do a few classes a week while you prepare for another job, just as you could be doing Zumba or TRX classes. My intention, however, was to become a Pilates professional and for this job to guarantee me long term financial stability. Therefore I needed the best possible training and there was only one option: Romana's Pilates.
From the first day you realise that you've got it right, because it's at a different level from what you might have done before. I had been teaching “Pilates” for more than 15 years, trying to keep training myself continuously; I knew about different training courses and had attended a few congresses, some of them with top international figures. However, the training offered by Silvia Puentes and Javier Pérez Pont at “Elite Pilates” plays in another league. For the first time, since I started training, I saw Pilates as a rigorous discipline, capable of producing incredible results in students, but which requires a great deal of knowledge and work to be able to teach it correctly, as it is much broader and more complete than anyone had ever taught me.
The effort required to carry out the training is great, both financially and in terms of time and effort. But, for the same reason, competition is practically non-existent, as there are many more potential clients than teachers. Only the big capitals have several teachers and there are many cities and large areas where there is not a single teacher. We are the elite of Pilates teachers and there are very few of us.
This way all that initial effort is more than rewarded. You immediately realise that the economic part, which can be measured more easily, is going to be easily covered. What we offer is quality and therefore we do not enter into a price war to be the cheapest, every hour of work is going to be more profitable. And because what we do works, we don't sell smoke or fashions, we offer results that no other discipline can achieve, and the clients that come to us become loyal with ease. Many of them will stay with you for years and will recommend you to new clients. And related to this is also the guarantee of continuity, I don't know what new disciplines will emerge in the next 20 years but I am sure that I will continue to work in the same thing, because there will still be people looking for us.
In addition to the financial reward you also get a great personal reward, the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing your job well. After completing the Elite Pilates training you have acquired knowledge and skills that allow you to be confident that you are giving each of your clients what is best for them. And, as a result of this, you also get the added satisfaction of being able to see your students improve and receive their recognition. Phrases like: “It's been two years since I've slept for two years without being woken up by pain”, “I'm already running for half an hour again” or “the traumatologist told me that the pain wouldn't go away until I had surgery” are a good payment for the early mornings, weekends at work and hours of study.
